Who We Are
Ash Mukherjee, Creative Development, Choreographer and Lead Dancer
Ash Mukherjee, was born in Kolkata, India, and trained under Guru Smt. Thankamani Kutti in Bharata Natyam. A young principal dancer of Kalamandalam Kolkata, India he was the winner of The Best Male Dancer Award, by Layavinyas, India.
Having undergone training in classical ballet under ex prima ballerinas of The Royal Ballet, Brenda Last and Doreen Wells, Ash is the first Indian National to have been nominated for a Critics' Circle National Dance Award UK 2007 for his critically acclaimed contribution to the 2006 Place Prize winning piece.
His association with FIPA began in 2008 with his role as the Merchant in Tasher Desh.
He was recently invited by the Critics' Circle National Dance Awards to create an exciting new debut solo at Sadler's Wells Theatre for the 2008 Critics' Circle National Dance Awards Ceremony.
His choreographic dance theatre debut "The Meeting Place" at The Place Theatre for Resolutions! 2009 attracted excellent reviews and he has been featured in Time Out London's Rising Talent Issue as one of three emerging dance makers.
